Mutational Signatures in cancer

This webinar is a recorded presentation of a live broadcast and includes a pre-test, the presentation, , audience Q&A, handout, and a post-test.

CME/CMLE Credit is not available for this webinar.

Description:

Patterns of somatic mutation, identified through the broad sequencing of human cancers, reflect diverse mechanisms of tumorigenesis. These patterns, so-called mutational signatures, represent emerging biomarkers that provide insight into disease etiology and may impact clinical management. This webinar reviews the mechanistic basis of mutational signatures, the detection of signatures in the molecular laboratory, and potential implications in cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Learning Objectives:
  • Describe how mechanisms of mutagenesis lead to distinct mutational signatures.
  • Infer common mutational signatures from sequencing data.
  • Use mutational signatures to support pathological diagnosis and laboratory quality control.
  • Explain how mutational signatures may aid cancer therapy selection.
