Many healthcare professionals (e.g., laboratorians, physicians, physician assistants, pharmacists, nurses and genetic counselors) believe pharmacogenomics (PGx) is essential to personalized medicine; however, many still lack confidence prescribing, dosing, interacting with other healthcare professionals and counseling patients with regard to PGx. This session will explore the current evidence, regulatory, reimbursement and best practice recommendations in PGx testing. Keys to successful implementation and emerging large pharmacogenomics initiatives will be discussed with a focus on contemporary issues in the field.
